In Greek myth, the lotus-eaters were a mysterious race of people living on a small island dominated by the lotus tree. They were encountered by the Greek hero Odysseus during his return from Troy. The lotus fruits and flowers were the primary food of the island and were a narcotic. Those who ate the lotus fruit were overcome by a blissful forgetfulness. After they ate the lotus, they would forget their home and loved ones and long only to stay with their fellow lotus-eaters.
The designs are inspired by the light and water of the Aegean sea and based on work I made while on a trip to Halkidiki in northern Greece.

“The role of a picture is no longer regarded as a vehicle for images or even as an arrangement of shapes. It has become an instrument, a kind of catalyst, for the activation of space… their effect is not to say ‘Look at me’ but ‘Look at your surroundings’. Ideally they should provoke harmony where none existed before.”
